“Together we can make a difference.”

A message from Deshamanya Dr. Nilu Anandappa, Pioneer Principal

Dear Parents, Students, and Well-Wishers,

It is with immense pride, gratitude, and a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you to Lakeland Inter-American School, Matara. As the Pioneer Principal of this institution, it is both an honour and a privilege to be part of a journey that seeks to shape not only the academic futures of children but also the character, confidence, and values that will guide them throughout their lives.

At Lakeland Matara, we believe that every child is unique, every child has potential, and every child deserves the opportunity to shine. Education, in its truest sense, goes far beyond textbooks, examinations, and academic achievements. It is about nurturing curious minds, compassionate hearts, independent thinkers, and responsible global citizens who are prepared to face the challenges of an ever-changing world.

Our educational philosophy is rooted in a simple yet powerful belief: children flourish when they are understood, encouraged, respected, and loved. We are committed to creating a learning environment where individual strengths are recognised, differences are respected, talents are nurtured, and every learner is given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. Through our commitment to inclusive education, we strive to ensure that no child is overlooked, no talent remains undiscovered, and no learner is defined by their limitations.

As we continue to strengthen our academic foundation through the Pearson International Curriculum, we place equal importance on critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, emotional well-being, and practical life skills. Our goal is not merely to prepare children for examinations, but to empower them with the knowledge, resilience, confidence, and integrity they need to succeed in life.

Dear Parents, you are not simply members of our school community; you are our partners in your child’s educational journey. The trust you place in us is a responsibility we value deeply. A child’s success is most meaningful when the home and school work together with mutual respect, open communication, and a shared commitment to the child’s well-being. I warmly invite you to walk alongside us, share your thoughts, celebrate your child’s progress, and work collaboratively with our educators as we build a strong foundation for every learner.

As the Pioneer Principal, my vision for Lakeland Matara is to establish an institution where academic excellence goes hand in hand with kindness, discipline is balanced with understanding, and achievement is measured not only by results but also by the positive difference our children make in the lives of others.

I envision a school where children feel safe to ask questions, confident enough to explore their abilities, courageous enough to overcome challenges, and inspired to dream beyond boundaries. Above all, I want every child who walks through our gates to feel that they belong, that they matter, and that their future holds endless possibilities.

Our journey is one of continuous growth, shared dedication, and meaningful transformation. With the commitment of our teachers, the support of our parents, the guidance of our management, and the enthusiasm of our students, I believe we can build something truly remarkable for the children and families of Matara and the wider Southern Province.

Thank you for placing your trust in Lakeland Inter-American School, Matara. Together, let us nurture confident learners, compassionate individuals, and responsible citizens who will contribute positively to society and inspire generations to come.

Because every child deserves a chance to shine, every dream deserves encouragement, and every future deserves a strong beginning.

With warm regards and heartfelt commitment,

Deshamanya Dr. Nilu Anandappa
